Do you have trouble remembering how to tie a tie? I've got you covered. With this tie knot, you get a simple solution that makes all other knots seem unnecessarily complicated—and that saves the day when you're short on time.

Everyone should know how to tie a tie. It’s not all that uncommon to hear this from men in suits and cufflinks, who’ve probably never worn a well-worn T-shirt in their lives. But let’s be honest—doesn’t it feel a little tricky sometimes?

There are so many to choose from, each one more complicated than the next. Online guides try to explain, but every time you try, you end up tying a knot in both yourself and your tie. You can’t figure out how to tie a nice-looking tie knot.

I've got the trick. A tie knot that's so simple you'll be able to tie it with your eyes closed in no time.

Here's how to do it:

The absolute easiest way to learn this tie knot is to watch someone tie it. So play the video to see me demonstrate. Need more guidance? Read this:

  1. Preparation: Place the tie along the inside of your forearm so that the bottom of the tie touches the crook of your elbow. The rest of the tie should run along your forearm and out over your palm so that the narrow end of the tie hangs toward the ground.
  2. Twist: Grab the part of the tie that hangs toward the ground and twist it three times around your wrist. Be careful not to let the tie wrap around itself as you twist; instead, leave a little space between each twist so that the end of the tie moves closer and closer to the crook of your arm.
  3. The trick: Slide your hand under the first loop of the tie and grab the second loop—then pull it through the first loop. Your tie is now tied!

It might take a few tries to get the hang of it. But once you figure out how to do it, you’ll have a stylish, simple, and quick tie knot to fall back on the next time you need to dress up and don’t know what to do.
