Linda enjoys DIY projects. She’s an adventurer who doesn’t shy away from a challenge and who used to live a real cowboy life. Along the way, she’s learned to find creative solutions and make the most of old items to create something new. As a member of the Taste Council, Linda will share tips and inspiration on everything related to home improvement and hobbies.

Get to know Linda:
She used to run a ranch that offered everything from Western-style horseback riding to BBQ and lassoing.
She’s not the type to turn down an adventure.
Celebrated her 50th birthday with whitewater rafting in Sri Lanka.
Her horse Ice and her dogs Lilo & Tiger Lily are her greatest passions in life.

What DIY project are you most proud of?
I’d say what I’m most proud of is that I dared to experiment and created things I didn’t didn’t think I could. Sure, over the course of my life I’ve built and renovated five houses—but that’s not what comes to mind first. Rather, it’s things like how I’ve repurposed old, used horseshoes and made everything from toilet paper holders and candlesticks to napkin holders out of them. Using things you’d otherwise would have just thrown away. My mind is often racing, immediately thinking of how I can combine different things to find new uses for them.

What's the best thing about working in a store?
A store without customers would be an incredibly boring place. Of course, it’s the interactions with all the customers that are the best part! Especially those people who come in planning to buy something specific, but then, after we get to know each other a little and I can offer some suggestions, suddenly the store with something completely different—which they end up being even happier with. Exceeding expectations and going the extra mile—that’s very rewarding. My mom was exactly the same way, and I’m often told that I take after her a lot in that regard. I guess it runs in the family—it makes you happy to make other people happy!

What do you wish more customers would ask for?
Most of our customers are already very inquisitive and know quite a bit about the things they’re looking for. But sometimes I feel that even more people would dare to try finding solutions for fixing what’s that’s broken, rather than assuming they have to buy something new right away. With the right ideas and tools, you can accomplish quite a lot without it having to cost that much—and do it in a climate-smart way, too. But the most important thing, of course, is that you find what you’re looking for, whether it’s a brand-new product or new ways to repair an old one that’s broken.
